The CiteIt button in my browser didn't work. What went wrong?

The CiteIt button is for adding citations from the Internet to the Resource Lists system. Educators and students can both use the CiteIt button.

Students can use it to add citations to "My Collection". Educators can use it to add citations to both "My Collection" and to their course reading lists.


Answer

There are some different scenarios that might cause a problem.

  1. Sign in status. If you are not already signed in to Resource Lists, using this button will just take you through a log in page and load your lists in a new tab. Just go back to the tab you were using and then try again. It is OK to close that extra tab.
  2. Software update. Sometimes after a new software release CiteIt might need to be reinstalled. Software releases are usually the first Sunday of the month.
  3. Incorrect installation. It's easy to do. When installing CiteIt to your browser, be sure to open the pop up window and drag the blue button to your bookmarks bar. Do not try to drag the CiteIt menu option. This video shows you how to install it correctly.
