Do I need to update links to my Resource List each semester?

Answer

No. Unless the link points to a citation or section that has been deleted from the Resource List, then you don't need to update/change links each semester.

See below for the different scenarios on how linking works with iLearn and Resource Lists.

Scenario 1: Shareable links (also known as permalinks)

Shareable links to a Resource List are added to a semester one iLearn subject site. The same subject is offered in semester two; what happens to these links?

The new iLearn site is created for semester two and the Resource List is rolled over for the semester two subject. As soon as the Resource List for semester two is published (this happens on Monday of O Week) all shareable links will automatically direct to the Resource List for semester two, including links in the semester one iLearn subject site.

Scenario 2: LTI links (created from the Content Extensions area in iLearn)

LTI links to a Resource List are added to a semester one iLearn subject site. The same subject is offered in semester two; what happens to these links?

The new iLearn site is created for semester two and the Resource List is rolled over for the semester two subject. As soon as the Resource List is rolled over for the semester two subject, LTI links in the semester two iLearn subject site will direct to the Resource List for semester two. The LTI links in the semester one subject site will continue to direct to the semester one Resource List.
