Question:
How do I get a laptop pack for my subject's exam?
Information for Educators: This is how you can request a laptop pack as back up for your in-class exams and assessments. Laptops are not available for loan directly to students.
Information for Students: These laptops are not available for you to borrow directly. If your laptop is out-of-action for an assessment, please check with your educator if they have organised to borrow one of these packs.
The Main Library has laptop packs (2 x laptops) that educators can borrow for exams on campus. Collect the day before, or on the day of the exam from the Main Library Service Desk.
The purpose of the laptops is as a back up in case a student's laptop is broken, or unusable for an exam or assessment held in class time.
You can walk-in and collect if there is one available. However we recommend booking in advance. There is also a laptop pack located at BIHS that can be booked separately.
NB. For official exam periods, ITS will arrange backup laptops in the exam venues. These packs will not be bookable the week before an exam period for maintenance as well as the exam period itself.
How to place a booking:
- Scan the QR code or go to the Exam laptop pack : back up equipment.
- Click the sign-in link.
- Select the Click & Collect request option.
- In the start date, choose the day you want to collect (must be at least one day in advance of the current date).
- In the end date, choose when you plan to return it (maximum is three days).
- In the comment field add the subject code.
To change the reservation times, cancel the booking from the requests area in your Library Search account and start again.
Booking and loan limits:
- Booking limit is for one pack. If availability allows, another pack can be borrowed without a booking. If more packs are required, it is recommended to contact Timetabling to book a computer lab.
- Loan limit of two packs (four laptops) at a time, for a maximum of three days. This is to cater for collection the day before an early exam, and for return after a late Friday assessment on the following Monday morning. Please return items as soon as practicable to ensure availability for other educators.
