Question:

Why are there delays with requesting physical loans from other libraries?

The Australia-wide network of libraries that participate in resource sharing is transitioning to a new system for managing requests. While the new system is being implemented, many libraries are minimising the number of physical loan requests that they supply. The new system is expected to go live on the 2nd of June, 2025. Until then, the library team may have difficulty finding a library in Australia to supply a physical loan. We do not expect any impact on the supply of digital copies for book chapters, journal articles, etc.

We will contact you via email if we experience issues with supplying your request and suggest alternative options, such as:

  • submitting the request again after the 2nd of June when the new system is live
  • changing your physical item request to a digital chapter request
