Question
Have there been any changes to the way I will use Resource Lists?
The new Resource List user interface will be available in January 2024.
Yes, with the updated interface there are some feature design changes that will impact the way you use Resource Lists.
The updated design prioritises enhanced usability on laptops and a more complementary design alongside iLearn. There is a strong focus on optimising key tasks for educators and accessing resources for students, resulting in a noticeably cleaner and simplified interface.
The key changes are listed below.
Items in the list are by default displayed in a condensed format and only include the item title, item type (e.g. book or article), item status (Complete or Library is processing), public note icon if it has a note, tags, and the availbility (online or physical):
Once the item is clicked it will expand with more detail and options:
- Citation information such as author, publication date, journal title, page range, etc.
- Ability to view and edit the public note
- Add or remove tags
- Add or change the due date
- Hide or unhide the item
Some of the other interface design changes include:
-
Adding a new section and new section note has moved to the Add menu.
-
Notifications such as library discussions, suggestions and upcoming due dates are now represented as icons in the right bar.
-
Adding collaborators has moved to the List details feature.
-
Shareable links for the list, section and item are represented with the share icon.
-
Connecting to your reference manager accounts, accessibility options and notifications menu have moved from the User menu to the Settings menu.
-
Collection has been re-named to Favourites.
New features have also been introduced with the updated interface. See the FAQ What are the new features of the updated Resource List user interface? for more information.
